This was the first time I visited the Nomura Museum of Art at the foot of Higashiyama in Kyoto.
To commemorate the 500th anniversary of Sen no Rikyu's birth, a special exhibition was held that exhibited various tea utensils related to Rikyu.
In the not-so-large exhibition room, there are ink paintings such as Liang Kai and Muqi, the manuscripts of the Edo period, Kundaikan-Socyoki, the whereabouts of Shoji Takeno and Sen no Rikyu, and the tea set owned by Sen no Rikyu. Many masterpieces were on display.
It was also explained that some of these tea ware were owned by Sanetaka Sanjo Nishi during the Muromachi period, and that they were handed down from generation to generation.
In the underground exhibition space, there was also an exhibition on the theme of the relationship between the Nomura family and the Yabuuchi family, who have a close relationship with Sen no Rikyu, which was also interesting.
