ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレ日本館、アテネ・フランセなどの設計で知られる建築家、吉阪隆正の回顧展。
吉阪は1922年に生まれ、幼い頃にスイスやイギリスで暮らした経験があった。その後、考現学で知られる今次郎に大学で学び、やがてル・コルビュジエのアトリエで働いた。
幼い頃にスイスで暮らした経験からか、吉阪はキリマンジャロやマッキンリーなどの登山も行い、北米大陸やアフリカ大陸を横断したこともあった。
また建築家としての活動や、世界各地を訪れた経験などをもとに、人類が平和に暮らせることをめざす”有形学”という独自の理論を作り上げた。
吉阪は、”本気であそぶ”ことをモットーにしていたらしい。吉阪にとっては、建築もそうした”あそび”の一部だったのかもしれない。
この展覧会を見て、これまで吉阪隆正に対して抱いてきた、建築家という肩書きに疑問を持つようになった。
A retrospective exhibition of Takamasa Yoshizaka, an architect known for designing the Japan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and Athens Francais.
Born in 1922, Yoshizaka had lived in Switzerland and England as a child. After that, he studied at university with Wajiro Kon, who is known for his studies, and eventually worked at Le Corbusier's atelier.
Perhaps because of his experience living in Switzerland when he was young, Yoshizaka also climbed mountains such as Kilimanjaro and McKinley, and even crossed the continents of North America and Africa.
Based on his activities as an architect and his experience of visiting various parts of the world, he also created his own theory of "tangible science" aiming for humankind to live in peace.
Yoshizaka seems to have had a motto of "playing seriously". For Yoshizaka, architecture may have been part of that kind of "play."
After seeing this exhibition, he began to question the title of architect he had for Takamasa Yoshizaka.
