エビスと言えば、太った体で満面に笑顔を浮かべて鯛を抱えている姿がすぐに思い浮かぶ。
エビス様は、元々は漁業の神として祀られていたようだが、農業の神としても祀られれることもあり、生産活動全般についての福神として人々に信仰されてきた。
これだけポピュラーでありながら、意外にも、その実像にはわかっていないことが多いという。
小さな展示スペースでの特集展示だったが、広大なエビス様の世界の一端が、そこには現れているような気がした。

It was a special exhibition in a small exhibition space, but I felt that a part of the vast world of Ebisu appeared there.
