寡聞にもペンティ・サラマッティのことはこれまで知らなかった。
1950年生まれのフィンランドの写真家だという。
展示されていた写真は、フィンランドを初め、世界各地の風景写真が多かった。
スペイン、ポルトガル、ハンガリー、ロシア、エジプト、インドなどなど。日本の福島や京都を写した写真もあった。
それらの写真を見ていくうちに、不思議な感覚に囚われていることに気がついた。
それらの場所を一度も訪れていたことはないのに、何だかとても懐かしい気持ちになってきた。
海の写真からは、かつて訪れた海の風景が、山の写真からは、かつて訪れた山の風景のことを思い出していた。
サラマッティは、個別の風景の写真を撮りながら、同時にこの地球上にある風景の原型のようなものを撮影する特別な感覚を持っているようだ。
そうした体験は、これまでの写真家の作品では味わったことのない、衝撃的で特別な体験だった。
ペンティ・サラマッティという名前は、決して忘れることのできない名前となった。
I didn't know about Pentti Sammallahti until now.
He is said to be a Finnish photographer born in 1950.
Many of the photographs on display were landscape photographs from all over the world, including Finland.
The location is Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Russia, Egypt, India and so on. He also had photographs of Fukushima and Kyoto in Japan.
As I looked at those pictures, I realized that I was trapped in a mysterious sensation.
I have never visited those places, but I feels very nostalgic for some reason.
From the pictures of the sea, I remembered the scenery of the sea I had visited, and from the pictures of the mountains, I remembered the scenery of the mountains I had visited.
Sammallahti seems to have a special sense of taking pictures of individual landscapes while at the same time taking pictures of the archetypes of the landscapes on this planet.
Such an experience was a shocking and special experience that I had never experienced in a photographer's work.
The name Penti Salamatti has become an unforgettable name for me.
