ハリー・ポッターと魔法の歴史展（東京ステーションギャラリー）　Harry Potter: A History Of Magic (Tokyo Station Gallery)

東京ステーションギャラリーで行われた、ハリー・ポッターと魔法についての展覧会。

私の目当ては、この展覧会名の後半の”魔法の歴史”についての方だったが、世界的でベストセラーになり映画化もされたハリー・ポッターがテーマの展覧会とあって、そちら目当ての多くの人々が会場を訪れていた。

小説の中に登場する魔法学校の授業のカリキュラムに沿って、魔法薬学、錬金術、薬草学、呪文学、天文学、占学などのコーナーに分かれていた。

錬金術についての秘密が書かれているという、リプリー・スクロール。展示されていたのは写本だが、不思議な絵が描かれていて、それがどう錬金術と関係あるのか、見当がつかない。

しかしその長さは4メートル以上あり、詳細なその内容を見ると、それが決して誰かを騙そうとして描いたのではなく、真剣に描いていたのだ、ということだけはよくわかる。

月に関するレオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチの手稿と、1000以上もの恒星の位置が描かれているケプラーのルドルフ表。

天文学が科学として確立する以前は、星々の動きを観察することは、魔術の一つであったということは、実に興味深い。

また日本での開催ということで、瑞龍寺から河童、竜、そして人魚のミイラが展示されていた。

それらは意外と小さく、伝説などで伝えられている恐ろしさよりも、なんだか可愛らしいという印象を持った。

ハリー・ポッターのことは映画でしか知らなかったが、この展覧会を見て、作者のJ.K.ローリングが魔法の歴史のことをよく調べて、作品に活かしてことがよくわかった。

An exhibition about Harry Potter and magic at the Tokyo Station Gallery.

My aim was about "magical history" in the latter half of the exhibition name, but there is an exhibition with the theme of Harry Potter, which has become a global bestseller and has been made into a movie. Many people were visiting the venue.

According to the curriculum of the magic school class that appears in the novel, it was divided into sections such as magic pharmacy, alchemy, herbology, spell literature, astronomy, and fortune-telling.

Ripley Scroll, which contains secrets about alchemy. The manuscript was on display, but there was a mysterious picture on it, and I have no idea how it relates to alchemy.

But it's more than four meters long, and when you look at its details, it's easy to see that it wasn't meant to deceive anyone, it was drawn seriously.

Leonardo da Vinci's manuscript on the moon and Kepler's Rudolphine table with the positions of more than 1000 stars.

It is really interesting that observing the movement of stars was one of the magics before astronomy was established as a science.

Also, because it was held in Japan, kappa, dragons, and mermaid mummies were exhibited from Zuiryuji Temple.

They were surprisingly small, and I had the impression that they were rather cute than the horror that has been told in legends.

I knew Harry Potter only in the movies, but when I saw this exhibition, I realized that the author, J.K. Rolling, had a good look at the history of magic and used it in his work.

京都・智積院の名宝（サントリー美術館）　Treasures from the Chishakuin Temple in Kyoto (Suntory Museum of Art)

京都の智積院は、以前一度訪れたことがある。宝物館に意外と無造作に展示されていた長谷川等伯とその一門の障壁画と、美しい庭園の印象が強く記憶に残っている。この展覧会で、再びその障壁画と再開することができた。他にも弘法大師像、張即之が書いた金剛経、両界種子曼荼羅図などの多くの名宝が展示されていて、とても興味深く観るすることができた。また、これまで知らなかった智積院のことをよく知ることができた。智積院はもともとは高野山の麓の根来寺の境内にあった。しかし豊臣秀吉によって根来寺が滅ぼされてしまい、その後、徳川家康によって京都に現在の地を与えられたという。成田山新勝寺や川崎大師は、この智積院の系列の寺であることもこの展覧会で初めて知った。いつか、再び京都の智積院を訪れて、あの美しい庭園をまた見てみたいと思いながら会場を後にした。 I have visited Chishaku-in Temple in Kyoto once before. 塩見允枝子＋フルクサス（ときの忘れもの）　Shiomi Mieko + FLUXUS (TOKI-NO-WASUREMONO)

フルクサスのメンバーとして活動していた塩見允枝子と、フルクサスの他のメンバーとの作品が展示されていた。日本からフルクサスから参加した人物といえば、オノ・ヨーコの知名度が圧倒的だ。塩見允枝子の作品をまとめて目にするのはこれが初めてだったが、オノ・ヨーコに引けを取らないユニークな作品が多く、見応えがあった。世界全体をステージとして見立てて、各地のメッセージを送ってパフォーマンスをイベントを行ってもらい、その結果を共有するというアイデアは、いかにもフルクサスらしい。また、壁にずらりと並べられていた、星座を観察するための窓、という作品もユニークだった。60年代の別なテーマの作品を、2019年にテーマを変えてリメイクした作品。いまだに創造の意欲は衰えていないようだ。フルクサスの他のメンバーでは、ナムジュン・パイク、ジョナス・メカス、ジョン・ケージらの作品が展示されていた。フルクサスを始めたマチューナスの、デザイナーとしての才能が遺憾無く発揮された、フルクサス新聞が展示されていて、そのユニークな構成にしばらく見入ってしまった。 Works by Mieko Shiomi, who was active as a member of Fluxus, and other members of Fluxus were on display. ペンティ・サラマッティ展（何必館・京都現代美術館）　Pentti Sammallahti (Kahitsukan・Kyoto Museum of Contemporary Art)

寡聞にもペンティ・サラマッティのことはこれまで知らなかった。 1950年生まれのフィンランドの写真家だという。展示されていた写真は、フィンランドを初め、世界各地の風景写真が多かった。スペイン、ポルトガル、ハンガリー、ロシア、エジプト、インドなどなど。日本の福島や京都を写した写真もあった。それらの写真を見ていくうちに、不思議な感覚に囚われていることに気がついた。それらの場所を一度も訪れていたことはないのに、何だかとても懐かしい気持ちになってきた。海の写真からは、かつて訪れた海の風景が、山の写真からは、かつて訪れた山の風景のことを思い出していた。サラマッティは、個別の風景の写真を撮りながら、同時にこの地球上にある風景の原型のようなものを撮影する特別な感覚を持っているようだ。そうした体験は、これまでの写真家の作品では味わったことのない、衝撃的で特別な体験だった。ペンティ・サラマッティという名前は、決して忘れることのできない名前となった。 I didn't know about Pentti Sammallahti until now.
