Enryakuji biography written in the Heian period. It is an important document that is always introduced in a book that depicts Saicho's life, and in front of it, I was a little shuddered rather than exaggerated.
The Shichijo Kasaya Kasaya is a Kasaya that Saicho received from a teacher at Mt. Tendai. When Saicho picked it up and saw this Kasaya that he might have worn, he felt like he had jumped over the long time of 1200 years.
The oldest manuscript of the Ennin's Diary of the Tang Dynasty, a record of Ennin's visit to Tang and a historical source of information about the state of Tang at that time. I remember reading Reischauer's book.
A six-way painting of Shiga Shojuraigoji Temple drawn in the Kamakura period. Four paintings different from the one in Tokyo were exhibited. Many of the founders of the Kamakura Buddhist denominations were monks who studied at Enryakuji Temple.
This exhibition introduces the history of Saicho and the Tendai sect. I was able to visit the Tokyo venue and this Kyoto venue.
Through the exhibitions at the two venues, the person named Saicho, who had been far away until now, has become a little closer to me.
