An exhibition of Edo literary paintings with the theme of travel.
It was the first time in about two years that I visited this museum.
I usually pick up a taxi from Jingu-Marutamachi Station in Keihan, but this time it was an exhibition related to traveling, so I walked from the station to the museum while looking at Kumano Shrine and Okazaki Shrine on my left.
Most of the works on display were from the museum's collection, but some of them were exhibited at the History Museum in Izumisano City.
Hine Taizan's "Kumano Kanko" is one such work, but it is said that it is a painting based on the experience that Taizan actually had during the winter season.
I learned about Hine Taizan for the first time at this exhibition. He was born in Izumisano in 1813, studied painting under Okada Hanko, and has disciples such as Noguchi Shohin.
There was also an exhibition of paintings and letters about a calligraphy and painting event held in Kyoto, where this pair of mountains also participated.
From the perspective of traveling across the sea, works such as Shen Quan, who visited Nagasaki in Japan during the Qing dynasty and caused a boom in Nanga in Japan, and Lee Yoshiyo, who came to Japan as a member of the Korean communication ambassador and copied a picture of Tani Buncho. There was also.
In addition, paintings by such as Sakaki Hyakusen, Tanomura Chikuden, Shunkin Urakami, Hanko Okada, Yosa Buson, Tsubaki Tsubakiyama, Kien Minagawa, Totoki Baigai, and Miura Gomon are also on display. It was a dense exhibition that tickled the journey of the viewer.
